Module 2: Peace and Sustainability

Understand the impact of peace on global sustainability through a focus on water access and management.

This module is designed to challenge the students to think about global sustainability with a focus on water and peaceful resolutions in managing this limited resource. The activities in this module ask the students to think about global sustainability generally and water specifically, exploring the implications for availability and the influence of peace on resource management.

Educational Objectives

At the completion of this module the students will be able to:

  • Explore the concept of global sustainability
  • Appreciate the impact of population growth and peace on global sustainability
  • Examine the factors that influence the availability of water and the potential for conflict
  • Recognize the management of water as an influencing factor for peace
  • Use the Global Peace Index to examine issues of peace within and between countries
  • Articulate ways to overcome the cycle of violence and promote peace
  • Work collaboratively, share opinions and respect others
