Module 4: Economics and Peace

Examine the benefits of peace to business and the economy through an exploration of tourism and retail industries.

 

This module is designed to challenge the students to think about the relationship between peace and business, recognising the economic and social benefits of peace. The activities in this module ask the students to think about the peace of a country and the affect on business with a particular focus on tourism and retail.

Educational Objectives

At the completion of this module the students will be able to:

  • Explore the concept of the peace industry
  • Recognise the differing levels of peace in the world and the implications for industries such as tourism and retail
  • Appreciate the role of the media in influencing our perceptions of a country and the impact on tourism and retail
  • Examine Global Peace Index indicators to explore the notion of the peace industry
  • Explore strategies to promote the peace industry
  • Work collaboratively, share opinions and respect others
