The Global Impact Mindset: United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The 2030 Agenda calls to facilitate participation of all sectors of society, including civil society organizations, the private sector and the general public at the local level. This “localization” calls for an inclusive approach that utilizes local knowledge to tailor the ambitious global-development agenda to specific local circumstances. Local action is crucial for securing the social embedding and adaption of the SDG and targets to local conditions. Local actors have first-hand knowledge about concrete problems and challenges and the possible causal relationships between them. Without this local insight, it is difficult to predict what will work, to explain failure, and to develop alternative solutions that will perform better.

The module "The Global Impact Mindset: United Nations Sustainable Development Goals" is designed to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The primary goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to critically analyse and contribute to global efforts aimed at achieving the SDGs.

IEP will be participating in the discussion to talk about the role that local authorities play on improving the livelihoods of communities and fostering social inclusion, with a focus on climate security.
